What is The Truth Project?
The Truth Project: Songs of Truth, Justice, & Hope is a new, social-justice music project by NYC-based songwriter/composer, saxophonist, and full-time NYC public school music teacher Craig McGorry.
The suite of songs is a multi-genre mix of Neo-Soul, R&B, and Jazz. The songs in this suite include Truth, Return to Love, Reckoning Ahead, Better Days, Let It Wash Over You, and more. They explore recent issues including the political and racial climate in the Trump era and the isolation and despair that many contended with during the pandemic.
In addition to calling out the perpetrators of the January 6th insurrection and naming that racism is learned and embedded during childhood, the songs also foster healing and a sense of hope that change can happen.
The band features active NYC-based musicians, including vocals, guitar, piano, bass drums, and a horn section consisting of saxophone, trumpet, and trombone.
